Walking into Buen Ayre is like walking into a parrilla in San Telmo, memories flood back of wonderful experiences with friends in Buenos Aires, eating steak, drinking red wine. A cosy, casual setting with an outdoor space, Buen Ayre serves top notch steaks, cooked to perfection.
Busy with groups of friends and couples on the Friday night we visit, friendly staff greet us. Accompanied by a simple garnish, the sirloin arrives criss-crossed with enticing grill marks, wonderfully juicy. Medium Rib-eye is meltingly tender. Share some sides, crisp yet fluffy thick cut chips are amply portioned. Coupled with very reasonably priced bottles of Malbec wine, we are back in Argentina, enjoying a leisurely meal in a laid-back setting.
This isn’t a fancy steak restaurant, but it is a place that serves excellent quality meat at easy to swallow prices. One of our favourites for steak, and not just in London.
