Butchies fried chicken is some mighty fine chicken. The menu, with each dish being named after a TV character, offers just two options on the day we visit: the Dale and the Clancy. This is fine by us, they both sound tempting.
Encased in a slightly sweet toasted brioche bun, the slow-reared, free-range buttermilk fried thigh is juicy and moist. The Dale has pickles and shredded iceberg, these give a vinegary kick and a freshness. Swapping out garlic mayo for chilli mayo, our only gripe is the lack of kick.
Sharing a Dale on our Saturday afternoon visit to Broadway Market just wasn’t enough, Clancy should have got a look in as well.
