Rotorino Dalston

Here is an effortlessly cool place with heaps of style - exposed brick walls, funky tiles, and hues of blue decorate the space. It’s home to a bar that's just waiting for you to sit at for a pre-dinner drink. Anyone for a cocktail? Mine’s a Rum Rum Smash.

One of the handful of Steve Parle’s restaurants, Rotorino focuses on Southern Italian fare. Sharing is the name of the game, a few plates of pasta here, a couple of mains there (what they call third course). Do try the cavolo nero casarecce - it’s a wonderful shade of dark green, coarse in texture and earthy. Hanger steak arrives perfectly pink, as tender as it gets. Also good is the rich goose ragu rigatoni (served in a patterned stylish bowl that I want to slip into my bag), and the whole sea bream - if you’re unequipped like us, ask for it to be filleted and you’ll be rewarded with flakes of succulent flesh.

Go with friends or on a date - either way, it’s somewhere you’ll want to return to, and it'll make you want to check out Parle’s other offerings too.
