What friendly chaps they are at Sood Family, part of The Kitchens in Spitalfields Market. A relatively new concept, and the brainchild of Nino Mendes, the idea is that a selection of London restaurants serve up dishes out of the 10 kitchens installed on the market floor. Sood Kitchen is one of the lucky 10, serving up Italian food with a modern twist.
The porchetta catches our eye, a big roll of juicy-looking, herby meat. And that’s exactly what we get, sandwiched between good quality, lightly toasted bread. The only disappointment? Chewy fat, not crisp crackling. We share a panzerotti, a mini calzone, deep-fried until crisp. Pork, beef and mozzarella fills our half-moon shaped fried pizza, stringy cheese oozing out as we bite in, mixed with tasty, well-flavoured meat.
There’s a lot to like here.
